CurlManitoba hosted the Strathcona Trust Senior Men’s Provincial Championship and the Liberty Tax Senior Women’s Provincial Championship from February 20-25, 2019 at the Rivers and Minnedosa Curling Clubs. There were 16 men’s teams and 8 women’s teams competing for the right to represent Manitoba at the 2019 Everest Canadian Senior Curling Championships being held March 22-28, 2019 in Chilliwack, BC.
Team Dave Boehmer (Petersfield) won the Strathcona Trust Senior Men’s Provincial Championship with a 7-1 victory over Team Butch Mouck (Gilbert Plains) . They earned the bye to the final after defeating Team Randy Neufeld (La Salle) 6-5 in the 1vs2 game this morning and remained undefeated through the entire tournament. In the 3vs4 game, Team Mouck won a tight battle with Kelly Robertson (Neepawa). The Mouck team went onto defeat Randy Neufeld in the semi-final by a score of 6-3, earning their spot in the final.
On the ladies side, Team Terry Ursel (Arden) won the Liberty Tax Senior Women’s Provincial Championship with a 6-4 victory over Team Maureen Bonar (Granite) . Terry Ursel won this morning’s 1vs2 game against Team Bonar 8-5. Bonar went onto defeat Team Laurie Deprez (Stonewall) in the semi-final game. Deprez had earned her spot in the semi-final with a 6-4 win over Patti Ulrich (St. Vital) in the 3vs4 game.
