2018 Canada Games Curling Trials

The Canada Games Curling Trials will be held on April 26-29th at the Fort Rouge Curling Club in Winnipeg. The Canada Games Curling Trials will determine Manitoba’s representatives at the 2019 Canada Winter Games in Red Deer, Alberta.
The two winning teams will be invited to participate in the Team Development Curling Program for the season leading to the 2019 Canada Winter Games. They will be provided with opportunities for fitness testing and training, nutritional workshops, sport psychology sessions, strategy sessions, technical refinement and brushing enhancement. CurlManitoba’s High Performance Director, a certified Level 4 coach, will mentor the team coaches, as well as work closely with the teams and coaches in preparation for the upcoming games.
A maximum of 17 years of age on June 30th, 2018
(born on or after July 1st, 2000)
Be a resident of Manitoba (comply with CurlManitoba Residency Policy)
Be a member in good standing of any CurlManitoba member clubs
Team consist of 4 men OR 4 women and 1 coach
No fifths allowed
Certified Competition Coach
Respect in Sport Certification (Sport Manitoba on-line course)
Making Ethical Decisions-Introduction Competition on-line evaluation (Coaching Canada on-line course)
Criminal Record Check on file with CurlManitoba (valid for 5 years)
Child Abuse Registry Check on file with CurlManitoba (valid for 5 years)
CurlManitoba will accept electronic entries until April 12th, 2018
Entry fee is $220.00 per team
Games will be 8-ends. Each team shall receive 30-minutes of thinking time for an 8-end game.
Time outs will be two 90-seconds time outs per team with a 4th end break.
Teams must read the Athlete’s Agreement prior to competing in the Trials. The
Athlete’s Agreement will be sent to all teams after the April 12th closing date.
2019 CANADA WINTER GAMES INFORMATION:
Red Deer, Alberta – February 15 to March 3, 2019
The coaching requirements at the 2019 Canada Winter Games requires the coach to meet the following certification requirements:
National Coaching Certification Program (NCCP) Certified Competition Coach with successful completion of the Canadian Curling Association’s Canada Winter Games Professional Development Module.
Coaches must be certified no later than 180 days before the opening of the Games (by August 12, 2018).
