The opening of a new curling club is always cause for celebration in Manitoba. The opening of The New Canadian Curling Club at Royal Manitoba Theatre Centre in early 2020 presents a rare opportunity for Manitoba curlers to celebrate their sport.
This uniquely Canadian play (The New Canadian Curling Club By Mark Crawford, Directed by Miles Potter) will visit 25 rural Manitoba and Northern Ontario communities from January 7 to February 6, 2020 before its three-week run on Royal Manitoba Theatre Centre’s John Hirsch Mainstage from February 12 to March 7. CurlManitoba’s President Darren Oryniak invites all Manitoba curlers to “come to the show”.
“We are excited by the prospect of seeing our sport the centre of attention for the artists at RoyalMTC,” said Oryniak. “The reviews tell us it is a great comedy show with an important message about inclusion and for our curling clubs. We’re also just really curious to see how they plan to turn the stage at RMTC into a curling rink.”
CurlManitoba and Royal Manitoba Theatre Centre promise Manitoba curlers they’ll find the way their sport is presented is “right on the button”.
Individual curling clubs are encouraged to work with RoyalMTC’s group sales staff to arrange for a group from their club to come to the show together. Discount pricing is often available for groups of ten or more and special experiences such as a tour or a photo with the cast can be created for club groups after the show.
