Winnipeg, Manitoba — CurlManitoba has announced that the 2021 Viterra Championship, the Manitoba Men’s Curling Championship, will be hosted by the Selkirk Curling Club and played in the Selkirk Recreation Complex. The event will take place February 2-7, 2021.
It will be the second time the Viterra Championship will be played in Selkirk. The Selkirk Curling Club hosted the inaugural Viterra sponsored event in 2016, the year that Mike McEwen broke through to win the Manitoba title.
“We are delighted to have the opportunity to host the Viterra Championship again,” says Selkirk Host Committee Chair Garry Dola. “It will be our sixth time overall that we have hosted the best men’s teams in the province and our champions are the legends of the modern era in Manitoba curling – Vic Peters (1993), Kerry Burtnyk (2001), Randy Dutiaume (2005), Jeff Stoughton (2009), and Mike McEwen (2016).”
“Selkirk’s proven track record tells us that we can expect another great championship event,” says Craig Baker, Executive Director of CurlManitoba. “We have been in Portage, Winkler, Virden and Charleswood since we were last in Selkirk and we know how much the players enjoy the return to Selkirk, which has been our pattern about every four or five years since the start of the 21st century,”

The 2021 Selkirk Viterra Championship will be the 97th annual Manitoba Men’s Championship since the first British Consols provincial championship was played in Winnipeg in 1925.
The first Manitoba Men’s title competition outside Winnipeg was played in Dauphin in 1966. In all, the men’s championship has been played in Brandon (9 times), Dauphin and Selkirk (5 each), Virden (4 times), Portage and Neepawa (3 each), Morden and Steinbach (twice each), Beausejour, Winkler and Flin Flon (once each).
