The two defending champion teams have repeated the accomplishment by winning the 2025 Manitoba’s Credit Unions Masters Championships in Gimli.
In the Men’s championship event, Randy Neufeld (Dean Moxham, Peter Nicholls, Dale Michie, Larry Borus) won a pair of games Sunday. They had taken their first loss Saturday evening to drop into the Sunday morning semifinal where they posted a 5-4 win over Clarence Kohut (East St. Paul).
Former champion Murray Warren (Brandon) had won the Page 1 vs 1 Playoff game Saturday over Neufeld but the result of the re-match was different. The defending champions were able to score deuces while holding their opponents to singles enroute to a 7-2 victory.
It is the third consecutive championship for the team from La Salle although with a slight line-up change. Dean Moxham replaced Darren Oryniak who was in the line-up for the first two titles.
In the Women’s championship game, Karen Fallis and her Fort Rouge team (Maureen Bonar, Lynn Fallis-Kurz, Jill Proctor) opened with a three but trailed Debbie McCreanor (Charleswood) 4-3 after four ends. A four on the fifth end gave the defending champions an insurmountable lead. The final score was 8-5.
The Fort Rouge team also had a single line-up change from their victory a year ago with Proctor replacing Laurie Ellwood at lead.
