Team Jacques Gauthier with Skip Jacques Gauthier, Third Jordan Peters, Second Brayden Payette, Lead Zachary Bilawka and Coach John Lund are headed to Langley, B.C. next week to compete in the 2020 New Holland Canadian Junior Curling Championships.
Manitoba was granted a second berth into the 2020 Canadians as the province was in the final last year (with Jacques, Jordan, and John on Team JT Ryan) and Yukon is not able to field a team. After going 8-0 in the round robin and playoffs, Gauthier lost the final at the 2020 TELUS Junior Men’s Provincial Championship, but earned the right to represent Manitoba as the second team.
While the teams are provided with flights, they are only covered for 67% of their hotel costs and no per diem for meals and incidental expenses resulting in substantial costs for the team.
With only one weekend until the Canadians, Team Gauthier has opted to not hold a fundraising event in conflict with events hosted by Team Walter and Team Zacharias and have opted to have a virtual support option instead.
