Manitoba Games Implementation Strategy
Phase 1: Virtual Meetings
Current COVID restrictions have taken our focus off the ice and towards a Manitoba Games mentorship program.
CurlManitoba is offering a series of virtual meetings to Junior Program coordinators and participants. The initial meeting will target junior coordinators while the following virtual sessions will be directed at the athletes.
The athlete virtual meetings will be offered to assist young athletes between the ages of 10 and 14, which aspire to participate in the 2022 Manitoba Games. These sessions will be hosted by former Manitoba Games (2006, 2010) Alum, Matt Dunstone and be 30 minutes in length.
If you are a junior coordinator and would like to participate, please contact Rob Gordon at [email protected]
Phase 2: On-Ice Training
Adhering to Manitoba Health restrictions CurlManitoba aspires to be able to be back on the ice sometime in the new year. Once that is possible CurlManitoba will strive to hold on-ice sessions with junior programs.
Phase 3: U15 Singles
CurlManitoba will be offering a new training tool program geared towards U15 athletes. The U15 Singles concept gives athletes/coaches the ability to track growth in shot making proficiency using a tangible numeric system. This program will help our U15 athletes train in preparation towards the 2022 Manitoba Games.
Phase 4: CurlManitoba Road Show
Currently we have six tentative hosts for the CurlManitoba Road Show; the dates for these events continue to be a moving target subject to Manitoba Health Provincial restrictions. CurlManitoba is hopeful that we will be able to run these events with some modifications in the New Year.
The Road Show features some of our Provinces brightest young stars – Connor Njegovan and Kristin MacCuish, with assistance from World Junior Champions Jacques Gauthier and Mackenzie Zacharias. The sessions offer clinics to Manitoba Games target age demographics in various communities throughout the Province.
The CurlManitoba Road Show is an exciting opportunity for U15 athletes to “learn from the Pros” ahead of the 2022 Manitoba Games.
