Kerri Einarson (East St. Paul) and her team have assured themselves of a spot in the Page 1-1 Playoff game Saturday in the Manitoba Scotties Tournament of Hearts presented by Monsanto.
At 6-0, the Einarson foursome is the last undefeated team in the 16-team field after a 7-4 victory Friday over previously unbeaten Darcy Robertson (Assiniboine Memorial). At the same time Jennifer Clark-Rouire (Miami) defeated Barb Spencer (Assiniboine Memorial) 9-3, giving Spencer a 4-2 record with Clark-Rouire at 3-3.
Even if Team Einarson happens to lose their final round-robin game Saturday morning against Spencer they will still play the Page 1-1 game, thanks to the win over Robertson.
Robertson will finish the round-robin no worse than in a tie for second place. If she beats Clark-Rouire in their final game, Robertson`s record will be 6-1. A loss and a Barb Spencer win over Einarson would mean the two would have 5-2 records and they would play a tiebreaker game for second place in the group.
In other games, Mackenzie Zacharias (Altona) improved to 3-3 with a 7-4 victory over Tiffany McLean (Brandon) and Rebecca Lamb (Stonewall) defeated Cheryl Reed (Brandon) 10-5.
With a game to play in the Asham Express Red Group, the standings are:
6-0 Kerri Einarson (East St. Paul)
5-1 Darcy Robertson (Assiniboine Memorial)
4-2 Barb Spencer (Assiniboine Memorial)
3-3 Jennifer Clark-Rouire (Miami)
3-3 Mackenzie Zacharias (Altona)
2-4 Rebecca Lamb (Stonewall)
1-5 Tiffany McLean (Brandon)
0-6 Cheryl Reed (Brandon)
