The playoff chase begins in earnest on Friday at the Manitoba Scotties Tournament of Hearts presented by Monsanto as the top seeded group leading teams all play each other in the final three games to complete their round robin.
Sisters Barb Spencer and Darcy Robertson, both of Assiniboine Memorial met on the morning draw. Both had perfect 4-0 records coming into the game and it appeared to be Spencer’s game. However, trailing 5-2 after six ends, the Robertson foursome scored four consecutive singles for a 6-5 victory.
Kerri Einarson (East St. Paul) was also at 4-0 as play began and she kept pace with Robertson, posting a 9-1 victory over Jennifer Clark-Rouire (Miami). The Miami team’s record is now 2-3.
Mackenzie Zacharias (Altona) gained her second victory, an 8-4 win over Cheryl Reed (Brandon) who is still winless.
In the fourth game on the morning draw, Tiffany McLean (Brandon) scored an extra end 8-6 victory over Rebecca Lamb (Stonewall). It was McLean’s first win of the event while Lamb is 1-4.
