Robertson Finishes Round Robin Undefeated
Darcy Robertson and her Assiniboine Memorial team concluded a perfect run to the playoffs at the Scotties Tournament of Hearts presented by Bayer in Gimli with a 7-1 victory Saturday morning over Kristy Watling (Fort Rouge). Team Robertson is the only team still unbeaten in the competition.
Tracy Fleury (East St Paul) also advanced to the playoff round, finishing with a 6-1 record with an 8-3 win over Jennifer Clark-Rouire (Miami).
On the morning draw, concluding the Asham Express Group round robin, Alyssa Calvert (Brandon) posted a 7-1 victory over Laura Burtnyk (Assiniboine Memorial). Calvert, Watling, Burtnyk, and Clark-Rouire all finished with 3-4 records.
In their final game, Terry Ursel (Arden/Lansdowne) and Tiffany McLean (Brandon) went to an extra end with McLean making a last rock angle raise takeout to win 7-6. McLean finishes 2-5 while Ursel finishes 1-6.
On the noon draw, #1 Kerri Einarson (Gimli) and #5 Beth Peterson (Assiniboine Memorial) will face off. Both have 5-1 records and the winner will advance to the playoffs. The loser, at 5-2, may face a tiebreaker game for second place in the group depending on the outcome of the Abby Ackland – Rebecca Lamb match.
Ackland (Assiniboine Memorial) has a 4-2 record and must win over Lamb (Stonewall) to force a tiebreaker. Lamb has won one game in six starts.
