Ackland Advances to Playoffs in Gimli:
Abby Ackland and her Assiniboine Memorial team have advanced to the Saturday evening playoff game at the Scotties Tournament of Hearts presented by Bayer in Gimli. Team Ackland defeated Beth Peterson-Assiniboine Memorial 8-7 in the afternoon tiebreaker game.
At 7:45pm in the Gimli Recreation Centre, Team Ackland-Assiniboine Memorial (Hailey Ryan, Emilie Rafnson, Sara Oliver, Brandi Forrest, Coach Howard Restall) will play Kerri Einarson-Gimli (Val Sweeting, Shannon Birchard, Brianne Meilleur, Coach Patti Wuthrich). Team Einarson finished first in the Asham Group with a 6 wins – 1 loss round robin record.
Darcy Robertson-Assiniboine Memorial (Karen Klein, Vanessa Foster, Theresa Cannon, Coach Kyle Foster), will play Tracy Fleury-East St. Paul (Selena Njegovan, Liz Fyfe, Kristin, MacCuish, Coach Andrea Ronnebeck) in the other playoff game.
Team Robertson was the only undefeated team in the robin round with a perfect 7-0 record while Team Fleury finished 6-1.
The winner of the Robertson-Fleury match advances direct to the final game at 3pm Sunday.
The loser of the Robertson-Fleury game will play the winner of the (Einarson vs Tiebreak Winner) playoff game in the semi-final at 9am Sunday.
Both the semi-final and final games will be broadcast on Sportsnet with Rob Faulds and Jill Officer describing the play.
