CurlManitoba Team Based Training Program 2025-2026

Program Cost: $1250 plus GST
Vision: CurlManitoba’s Team-Based Training Program will foster an environment for youth teams to train and develop their individual and team skills together to guide athletes on their pathway to podium results.
Mission: CurlManitoba will provide programming and practice planning to the teams and coaches of the teams to assist in the development of the athletes, the team, and the coach in both individual and team capacities.
Schedule
The teams will be selected through application by CurlManitoba High-Performance director with consideration of those teams that are Canada Games eligible. Also, with consideration of those athletes/teams that have previously participated in the individual based High-Performance Program. There will be four teams (preferably two of each gender) that will attend on ice sessions bi-weekly (10 total sessions) at the Heather Curling Club on Tuesdays from 8pm to 9:30pm.
The High-Performance Director, along with other top program coaches, plus special guests like Elite Curlers, will be on ice with the teams and coach to work with the team and mentor the coach.
Off-ice sessions will be available on the off weeks to the team either during the same time slot, or on Tuesdays from 7-8pm when we sometimes have guest speakers for our regular programs. This will be approximately 3-5 sessions of mental performance, nutrition, fitness, or other special areas of interest to the teams.
Subjects
Topic for on-ice sessions will including sweeping, sweep management, communication, strategy, technical analysis with video, team roles and responsibilities, rock timing, and use of SmartBrooms. Teams and coaches will have the opportunity to provide input into further topics based on the needs of the team.

Team Program 2025-2026 Application Details
Application Requirements
- The team is actively competing in events of their age category and/or the Manitoba Junior Curling Tour (MJCT) and plan to compete in provincial championships and/or the Canada Games Trials – minimum number of four (4) events plus two (2) provincial championships (this can include Canada Games Trials)
- Plan to have team practice 2x per week (this can include team program) and 1x per week individually
- Preference given to those who are Canda Games eligible (all members born January 1st, 2009 or later)
- Coach Requirements
- Competition Coach Trained or Certified. If not certified, certification can be facilitated through the team program if accepted.
The following documents are required for the application:
- A short cover page which includes team line-up and coach name including coach contact information
- Provide a short individual curling bio of each athlete
- Please include your long-term individual goals specific to curling (5+ years)
- Provide a bio of the team if 3 or more members have played together previously
- Provide a short (maximum one-page) coach bio that includes experience, certification, and why you as a coach, want to be part of the Team Program
- Provide a short (maximum one page) explanation by the team on why the team wants to be in the program
- Provide a competition schedule of events and practice schedule for the season (including individual practices)
- Detailed Goal-setting plan
- Team goals specific to curling for 2025-2026 season
- Individual goals specific to curling for 2025-2026 season
- Team goals related to areas of sports science – nutrition, mental performance and strength and conditioning
