Jennifer Jones (St Vital) and Joelle Brown (Charleswood) share the lead in the Asham `Black` Group with 4-1 records at the Manitoba Scotties Tournament of Hearts presented by Monsanto.
Jones defeated Kristy Watling (Fort Rouge) 8-4 on the noon draw Thursday while Brown was a 7-4 winner over Jennifer Briscoe (Burntwood). Brown`s game was closer than the final score suggests. Tied 4-4 playing the ninth end, Briscoe faced four counters when she threw her final stone. Her runback between two of those counters to hit and stick in the four foot was one of the great shots of the week. It was matched by Brown who made an angle raise takeout to score three and lead 7-4 coming home.
Brianne Meilleur (Fort Rouge) and Shannon Birchard (Thistle) are now just a win behind the first place teams after Meilleur beat Birchard 10-6.
Alyssa Calvert (Carberry) improved her record to 2-3 with a 9-4 win over Lisa Hale-Menard (Dauphin).
