First Lost For Top Seeded Team Einarson
The hometown fans went home disappointed this afternoon from the Scotties Tournament of Hearts presented by Bayer as top seed Kerri Einarson (Gimli) lost 8-5 to the veteran Assiniboine Memorial skip Barb Spencer, curling with her three daughters Katie, Holly and Allyson.
Now at 4-1, Team Einarson still tops the Asham Group but tied with Beth Peterson (Assiniboine Memorial), who defeated Allison Flaxey (Granite) 9-4.
Flaxey and Spencer now share 3-2 records with two games to play. Also at 3-2 is Team Abby Ackland (Assiniboine Memorial) who defeated Joelle Brown 10-2 on the early afternoon draw. Due to work commitments, skip Abby Ackland was replaced by sparepool player Meghan Walters.
Brown’s record drops to 1-4, tied with Rebecca Lamb (Stonewall) and Lisa Hale (Dauphin) after Lamb’s first victory came 11-7 over Hale.
On the early draw today, both #2 seed Tracy Fleury (East St. Paul) and #3 Darcy Robertson (Assiniboine Memorial) kept their records perfect as they improved to 5-0. Fleury (8-3 over Kristy Watling-Fort Rouge) and Robertson (5-3 over Jennifer Clark-Rouire-Miami) are now two wins ahead of Clark-Rouire in the Asham Express Group standings.
Watling and Laura Burtnyk (Assiniboine Memorial) have 2-3 records after Burtnyk defeated Terry Ursel (Arden/Lansdowne) on the morning draw.
Tiffany McLean (Brandon) posted her first win, a 10-5 win over clubmate Alyssa Calvert. McLean, Calvert and Ursel all have 1-4 records.
