DRAW 2 – With her first game this afternoon at the Manitoba Scotties Tournament of Hearts presented by Monsanto in Killarney in the history books, Barb Spencer has now played 163 Manitoba Scotties games – more than any other player. Her sister Darcy Robertson, with 162 games played, is in second place on the list and is now tied with Janet Harvey who has also played 162 games in her Scotties career.
Both Spencer and Robertson won their openers in Killarney.
Barb`s Assiniboine Memorial team left the ice first with an 8-1 win over Cheryl Reed of Brandon, giving Barb Spencer her 109th career victory. She is also at the top of that list. Darcy and her team, also curling out of Assiniboine Memorial, stole four on the sixth end en route to a 12-6 win over Tiffany McLean and another team from Brandon. The win was Darcy`s 105th career victory and on the wins list she is also in a second place tie. Cathy Overton-Clapham is the other curler with 105 career Scotties wins.
In other games on the noon draw, Kerri Einarson (East St. Paul) beat Mackenzie Zacharias (Altona) 9-3 and Jennifer Clark-Rouire (Miami) stole a tenth end point for a 6-6 tie to force an extra end with Rebecca Lamb (Stonewall). However, the Miami team could not control the extra end and Lamb scored a deuce to post an 8-6 victory.
