Manitoba has many unique curling traditions, including one where curlers throw rocks down a frozen river while raising money for charity. The 23rd annual Ironman Outdoor Curling Bonspiel, presented by Nirvana Waterworks, will be held February 2-4, 2024 at the Winnipeg Rowing Club, which is a new venue for the event this year.
Teams can register for the Championship or the Recreational division. Teams of up to six players are guaranteed three games in their division. New to the event this year is a high school tournament, which will be played on February first and second . The tournament will feature a maximum of 32 teams, with the winning team earning a championship banner for their high school.
Year after year, the bonspiel raises money for the Heart & Stroke Foundation. Since 2002, more than $212,320 has been raised for local charities, and in 2023, the event exceeded its fundraising goal for a total of $26,395.69 raised. This is the longest-running fundraiser for the Heart & Stroke Foundation.
