Jennifer Jones and her St Vital team have advanced to the Manitoba Scotties final Sunday afternoon at 2:30pm in Killarney.
The jones team defeated Kerri Einarson (East St. Paul) 9-5 in the Page Playoff 1-1 game Saturday evening at the Manitoba Scotties Tournament of Hearts presented by Monsanto.
A steal of two on the fifth end gave Jones a 4-2 lead at the mid-game break. The teams traded deuces in the next two ends and singles on the 8th and 9th ends to put Einarson down two coming home and they gave up two more when a desperation last shot multi-rock kill attempt failed.
Einarson will drop into the Sunday morning semi-final against Darcy Robertson (Assiniboine Memorial) who eliminated Joelle Brown (Charleswood) in the Page 2-2 Playoff game.
Robertson led 7-3 after five ends but gave up four singles over the second half of the game to go into an extra end. The 11th end went Robertson’s way and the Assiniboine Memorial team advanced with a 9-7 win, scoring a pair without having to throw their final stone.
The Einarson-Robertson match-up is scheduled for 8:30AM in Killarney’s Shamrock Centre.
